New advances in tree shrew model in experimental studies of hepatitis B virus

HBV感染是肝纤维化、肝硬化和原发性肝癌的主要诱因,是全球的重要健康问题。如何建立方便有效,稳定可靠和标准化的慢性HBV感染模型是研究HBV致病机理和防治策略等的主要问题。叙述了树鼩作为HBV研究模型的概况及最新进展,认为树鼩这一低等灵长类动物为构建该模型提供了重要的平台和巨大的潜在可能性,未来可能作为模拟人HBV感染过程的重要动物模型。
Abstract:Hepatitis B virus( HBV) infection is the main cause of liver fibrosis,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma,and it is also a major health problem around the world. How to establish an efficient,reliable,and standardized animal model of chronic HBV infection is essential to the study of the pathogenesis and prevention strategies for HBV infection. This review summarizes the general research and new advances in using tree shrews as the model of HBV infection. We believe that tree shrews,as lower primates,will provide a vital platform and have a huge potential for building a proper animal model in the future,and could become the essential animal model for simulating the process of HBV infection in humans.
