To observe the effects of combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine on ascites resulted from liver cirrhosis.65 patients were randomly divided into two groups, 35 cases for treated group and 30 cases for control group.They were all treated with western medicine used for protecting liver, diuresis and supporting treatment.Besides, the treated group received Xiaoguling, a kind of the traditional Chinese medicine.The utility rate of treated group was 83.9%, and was significantly higher than that of control group (62.3%) .And on liver function (ALT, TBil, Alb) and observation with abdominal Doppler ultrasound, the treated group was better than the control group.So the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine has a liver-protecting, diuretic and decreasing portal hypertension effect on ascites resulted from liver cirrhosis, which is higher than that of western medicine alone.
