The genotype of hepatitis C virus, the levels of serum IFN-γ and IL-4, serum viral load and the level of ALT level were determined in the patients suffered from chronic hepatitis C.The level of serum IFN-γ from patients with genotype 1b was significantly lower than that from genotype 2a (P<0.05) .There was no correlation between the levels of serum IFN-γ and IL-4 and age, gender, serum ALT level or HCV RNA level (P>0.05) .And just in patients with the same genotype, there was no correlation between the levels of serum IFN-γ and IL-4 and the serum ALT level or HCV RNA level (P>0.05) .The low level of IFN-γ in the patients with genotype 1b might be a factor on sustained infection to hepatitis C virus.
