Objective To evaluate the anti-viral therapy with pegylated interferon alpha-2a plus ribavirin in patients co-infected with HBV and HCV.Methods We investigated 31 patients infected with HCV and 30 patients co-infected with HCV and HBV,before and after the anti-viral therapy.HCV RNA,HBV DNA and some biochemical indicators for fibrosis were detected.Results HCV-RNA showed negative in 51.6% of patients with chronic hepatitis C after therapy,but the inhibition rate of HCV RNA was lower in patients co-infected with HCV and HBV.Conclusion The PEG-IFN-α plus ribavirin therapy was effective in HCV/HBV co-infected patients,but its efficacy was not as good as in those patients only infected with HCV.But the therapy can improve the liver function of these patients.
