  • Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) is a phenomenon in the process of virus infection which refers to the virus-specific antibodies which can help or facilitate virus to enter the target cells. These antibodies have double effects, which are balanced between protection effects or enhancement effects of infection according to different antibody concentration.ADE is observed in many virus infection processes, moreover, the conventional vaccine usually has no effect to prevent or treat them.In this review, we discuss the mechanism of ADE in HCV infection, aiming to provide some new thoughts for HCV pathogenesis study, therapy and vaccine research.
