Clinical observation of alprostadil injection in the treatment of liver cirrhosis with jaundice

Objective To observe the improvement of symptoms, blood biochemical indexes and organ function as a result of alprostadil injection in patients with liver cirrhosis combined with jaundice.Methods 70 patients with liver cirrhosis associated with jaundice were selected and randomly divided into treatment group (n=35) and control group (n=35) .The patients in control group were treated with glutathione, furosemide, spironolactone diuretic, human serum albumin for support treatment whereas the patients in treatment group were given the same treatment as the control group plus alprostadil 10ug in 100ml 5% glucose intravenous infusion, 2 times a day for 4 weeks.The changes of TBil, PTA, ALT, BUN, CR and jaundice, ascites were observed.The changes were evaluated after follow-up time of three months after treatment.Results The TBIL, ALT, BUN, CR were significantly decreased after treatment, while the PTA was increased in both groups (P<0.01) .But the changes were more significant in the treatment group.The regression of ascites and jaundice in the treatment group were more significant than that in the control group (P<0.01) .At follow-up three months after discharge, ALT, TBIL, BUN, CR remained at the level of discharge.Conclusion Alprostadil has a role in the treatment of liver cirrhosis with jaundice by significantly improving the long term effect organ function.
